WE'RE HAPPY YOU'RE HERE!

Welcome to Valley Church of Allendale! We strive to make your first experience with us a great one.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM A SERVICE

Wear what you want to worship in. Bring a friend, bring your family, or simply bring yourself. We would love for you to fill out our Connection Card before your visit--this way, we'll know you're coming and we will make a point to reach out to you before you leave. We can even save you a seat if you want! You can also just show up to any of our events or services and fill out the Connection Card in person.

If you are watching online, you can still fill out our Connection Card anytime online and we will reach out to you through email, text, or Facebook, depending on what you prefer!

  • The Worship

A church service at Valley lasts an hour and begins with engaging music from our worship band. There's guitar, drums, keys, and of course, some great vocals. No songbooks, just lyrics on the screen up front!  You can sing along, throw your hands up, dance if you want to, or simply stand and soak it all in!

  • THE GIVING

When the baskets get passed around to receive donations, we want you to know that there is absolutely no need to feel pressured into giving. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we will not be passing around baskets for a while!

During our online worship services, there will be a time of prayer in which we ask you to give. The same goes for this: no need to feel pressured. Simply know that if God puts it on your heart to give financially to Valley, you can give in person, online, or through mail, and know that there are many opportunities to give in non-financial ways as well. • The MESSAGE

Our messages are designed to be practical, approachable, filled with hope, and focused on Jesus. One of our pastors or leaders will share this message--click here to meet our staff!

To get a better sense of what to expect, you can always watch one of our past messages or watch us live each Sunday on Facebook or YouTube!

  • The Kids

If you have children, you are more than welcome to keep them with you during the service or hand them off to our wonderful Valley Kids program. Valley Kids cares for children aged between birth and 5th grade, divided between the baby room, the toddler room, and the school-age room. The message given in Valley Kids each Sunday morning is written and taught by Sharayah Clevenger, who has been working in Kids Ministry since 2015 and has been with Valley since 2017. • The coffee

*Yes, we serve coffee! We also have water and a variety of tea options. We have drinks available before, during, and after service, and sometimes have special treats  after service. These items can be found in our "Coffee Corner" in the back left corner of our worship space!

  • The communion

We practice "Open Communion," which means that you are able to participate in communion without any kind of special initiation or training. If you accept Christ into your heart and desire to walk alongside him, you are welcome to take communion with us!

Valley typically celebrates Communion every 6-8 weeks. We have 2 volunteers on each side of the room, one holding a cup of grape juice and the other holding a loaf of bread. Lines will form in the center aisle as music plays softly in the background. Once you get to the front of the line, you will tear a piece from the loaf of bread as someone says to you: "The body of Christ, given for you." Then, you will dip the bread in the cup of grape juice as someone else says to you: "The blood of Christ, shed for you." Then, you return to your seat, eat the bread, and enter into a brief moment of prayer and/or reflection by yourself. If you are watching online from home, you can still participate in communion by using any kind of bread and juice (or wine, if you prefer).

If you prefer a packaged/wrapped communion cup & wafer please send us a message or talk to Pastor Matt before the service.  We are happy to accomodate!
