The leadership team at Valley Church is a mix of those who have been here since the church's founding and those who are just recently joining us. Together, our staff works diligently to represent and pursue the values and mission of Valley.

  • Matt bistayi

    lead pastor

Matt is the Lead Pastor of Valley Church. He and his family, along with some amazing people, launched the church in 2010. Before planting Valley, Pastor Matt served other churches in student ministry, discipleship ministry, and as lead pastor.

Originally from the Kalamazoo/Battle Creek area, Pastor Matt became a Bronco at Western Michigan University before attending Seminary. Afterwards, he married Shellie, who is a Nurse Care Manager. Together they have two grown kids, Amber and Alex, and a grandson, DJ. Ask him to show you pictures--he'd love to brag!

Matt gets the most excited about seeing people impacted by the grace of Jesus. He believes that God's love has no boundaries and he is passionate about helping people discover and unleash their God-given potential.

Some of Matt's favorite things include cooking, crispy chicken wings, BBQ, traveling, hanging out with friends and family, the Chicago Bears, and finding hope (He's a Bears fan after all). He's a major foodie and is always up for grabbing a bite, hearing your story, and helping you take your next steps with Jesus!

  • jeremiah shirreffs

    creative arts director

Jeremiah has been with Valley Church since its founding in 2010, becoming the Worship Director in 2016. Today he serves Valley in countless ways, from leading and organizing worship each Sunday to running tech during a pandemic to graphic design. He is also responsible for developing the look and brand of Valley.

Originally from Battle Creek, he began studying at Ferris State University and moved on to receive a degree in Industrial Design from the Kendall College of Art and Design. He married Emily in 2016 and the two became parents to their first child, Elias, in September of 2019. They are also parents to Hank and Dallas, two fun-loving Huskies.

Miah's favorite moment when he serves at Valley is when the music and the people come together to experience God's presence in a real, tangible way. He works diligently behind the scenes each week to make this experience possible!

Aside from church, Miah loves to play disc golf, play video games, eating Mexican food, and drinking Dr. Pepper. If you've got talents regarding music, tech, or other creative arts, Miah would love to get in touch with you!

  • sharayah clevenger

    childrens' ministry director

Sharayah is our wonderful, kind, and goofy Children's Ministry Dirrector at Valley Church. She began her career in Kids Ministry at her home church in Holland, MI in 2015 before joining the Valley team in November of 2017.

Before that, she grew up in Zeeland and began earn a college degree in neuroscience at Michigan State University (which is a crazy story that she'd love to tell you about some time!) but now holds a Bachelor's Degree from Cornerstone University in Ministry Leadership with hopes of pursuing a Master's Degree in the future.

When asked what she loves most about her job, Sharayah's heart gravitates towards watching kids grow in their faith and being able to partner with parents to guide them on their journey. She is also passionate about ministering to kids and seeing a lightbulb go off above their head when a lesson or an activity really clicks.

Sharayah loves a good cup of coffee, playing golf (thought she isn't very good at it,) spending time with friends and family, music of all kinds (yes, even country!) and taking long walks with her husband, Nate, and their son, Owen, who was born in October of 2019. Sharayah can't wait to meet you and your kids (if you have them) and support you in your faith journey!

  • Priyanka bindon

    Director of student ministries

Originally from Jackson, MI, Priyanka grew up in a Hindu household. She began studying at Grand Valley State University in 2012 where the Gospel was shared with her by her RA at the time. Priyanka chose to be baptized in December 2013. She received a degree in Criminal Justice and a minor in Studio Art and got married in November 2019 to one of her best friends in college, Michael. Together, they recently bought a home in Hudsonville and have three kittens: Wolfie, Cymba (Michael chose that spelling), and Po.
